MAY SAVVIN - General Manager

May has over ten years of experience in the fitness industry and has held a number of management position in fitness centers around the country. She brings a passion for fitness and wellness to Fitness Norfolk each day and leads our team of trainers and fitness staff to provide you with the area's premier fitness center!

Personal Favorites:  "I love to spend time with my husband and children (including the four-legged ones), hiking and experiencing nature, and cooking nutritious meals at home.  My favorite exercises are High Intensity Interval Training and Boot Camp classes.  My favorite sports are volleyball and body-building, and I've competed in a competition before and can't wait to do another one!  My favorite thing to do around the Hampton Roads area is to go to festivals and relax on the beach."

Fitness Methodology:  I’m just like every other girl, I'm from a small historic town in Washington State with a population just under 6,000. My story becomes different from most when I started to face depression. My thoughts were consumed with self limiting beliefs and self doubt. At the age of 15 I turned to weight lifting and started benching close to my body weight. The mental and physical strength I started to gained was something I knew I had to share with other women. I saw my friends struggling with the same issues I was and I craved change so deep to my core. I moved 3,000 miles to continue my passion in Hampton Roads. I started my own business out of my garage 4 years ago knowing one person in Virginia Beach, Va.  

The NKFITSQUAD believes in pushing past our own self limiting beliefs and bringing your sister with you.  We meet you exactly where you are at today and challenge you to be better. The struggle to be your best self isn’t so lonely when you have your girls supporting you. It's about feeling good in your own skin, demanding change and loving yourself throughout this painful process of growth. We have the power to focus on what we can control and we can become so incredible great, together.

WILLIE TATE - Personal Trainer

Chief Petty Officer (Ret.), U.S. Navy

 

Fitness Experience:  Willie has trained active duty military personnel and their family members for over 25 years, in both personal training and group fitness classes. He was a Navy Command Fitness Leader Instructor, where he certified navy personnel as fitness leaders and taught them to safely conduct fitness classes for their command personnel.

 

Willie was also involved in the Navy’s Mission Nutrition and taught nutrition classes to Navy personnel.  Willie brings fresh ideas to Fitness Norfolk and cannot wait to meet you to show you how working out doesn't have to be work.  The friendly banters between the Marines and the Navy continue all day.

Willie holds the ACSM Certified Personal Trainer certificate, ACSM Weight Management, Tabata Bootcamp, MMA Bootcamp, TRX Suspension system, and AAAI/ISMA Total Body Strength Conditioning. 

Personal Favorites:  "I love reading books about nutrition, fitness, and self-development.  My favorite exercises are running, bench press, and squats, and favorite sport is boxing.  My favorite fighter is Muhammad Ali. I enjoy running and walking at various parks in the area. I also enjoy eating out at fine restaurants throughout Hampton Roads." 

TALIB WILLIS - Team Member

Talib is fairly new to the fitness industry, but what he lacks in experience, he makes up in desire.  Talib is well trained in the floating industry and works double shifts between Float Norfolk and Fitness Norfolk.  He is a people-person, funny and works hard.  He makes sure everyone who comes to The Renova Center, leaves with a great fitness experience.

Personal Favorites:  "I love to play basketball, tossing a football with friends, and playing video games.  My favorite exercise is to run on Fitness Norfolk’s zero impact runner.  My favorite sports are basketball, football, and soccer. My favorite teams are the San Antonio Spurs, the Denver Broncos, and Tottenham Hotspur.  My favorite thing to do around the Hampton Roads area is to try new restaurants or catch a good movie at the MacArthur Center."
